Distribution Advice:
Aldi run 2 Regional Distribution Centres. One is located in Mitchelstown
and the other in Naas. Supply to these distribution centres needs to
meet specific criteria e.g. type of pallets used, vehicle compatibility with
       warehouse docking bays etc.

         Advice to Producers:
Many of the Aldi permanent ranges are tendered on an annual basis
with 12- or 24-month contracts issued. Aldi’s ‘Love Ireland’ campaign
highlights the retailer’s commitment to local sourcing. They also run
an annual “Grow with Aldi” programme in partnership with Bord Bia,
targeted at smaller Irish producers whereby producers who meet the
criteria stock all Aldi shops for a 2-week period. Based on sales achieved
during this initiative approximately 5 of these producers are then given a
       national listing.
Outside of the “Grow” programme Aldi regularly list Irish producers for
2-week “Special buys-limited-time offers” cycles which are sometimes
repeated with producers a number of times throughout the year. Aldi is
interested in sourcing products in mixed cases and shelf ready packaging
(both of which need to taken into account by producers when costing
       products).
All listing discussions must be had with Aldi head office buyers. Margin
expectations can be lower than other retail models and payment cycles
are typically shorter. Producers seeking to talk to Aldi buyers will need
some capacity as they will be required to provide product to all of the
       branches.
