•   Always ensure that you talk with both retailers and other producers
           to reference check a distributor that you are about to nominate
       •   Once your distributor is appointed, you will need to do a lot of work
           with them to bring their team up to date on your product range by
           organising to attend a meeting and tasting with them, and provide
           them with promotional material they can use when visiting stores
       •   Ensure that you agree a target with your distributor as to what you
           both feel would be a realistic turnover to achieve annually
       •   Meet your distributor quarterly and review progress towards the
       •   Finally, appointing a distributor should not be viewed as automatic
           sales growth and it will require you to develop a partnership
           between you and the distributor which is actively managed by you
           in order to deliver optimum results
